Driving on St Helena is on the left, as in Britain, although most roads are single track. There’s hardly any flat ground on St Helena so roads can be steep and very winding.

As per the Highway Code, there’s an Island-wide maximum speed of 30 mph, however in many places the speed limit is only 20 or 15 mph. Descending cars have to give way to ascending ones.

The drink drive laws are strictly applied on St Helena, with a limit of 50µg of alcohol per 100ml of breath.

Remember: Don’t forget to wave as you go past motorist! 
