St Helena has a small, well equipped, General Hospital, Community Clinic and Dental Clinic in Jamestown. There is also various health Clinics located around the Islands districts, which are regularly visited by Doctors and Community Nurses.

Currently, there is no National Health Service and local residents have to pay for all medical treatment. Rates for medical and dental treatment are divided into three categories: British passport holders, non-British passport holders and residents. Visitor and non-residents must provide proof of their passport when seeking on-Island medical care.
